We like to throw a little upheaval and confusion into your Friday mornings, so this week features a little change — any packs we release that don’t have some cool, angstful name will be suffixed with “C01”, “C02”, etc. This is a little nod to the Harmonix way of doing things, without stepping on their toes for when they triumphantly return with Rock Band 4. That’s totally a thing! Shut up! You might have also noticed the “fixes/upgrades to previous releases” section up top. Whenever we patch up an existing C3 song, we’ll mention it in these blog posts. To get the new version of a fixed or upgraded song, re-download it from our database.

Rock Band 3 did a lot of legwork to bring the 1980s to the RB library, but many artists (unsurprisingly) slipped through their fingers. One such tragic omission is the inimitable Cyndi Lauper, from whom we’re dropping a fantastic four-pack this week. Lauper’s debut album She’s So Unusual was a defining pop album of the early ’80s, and we’ve got its biggest singles: Nyxyxylyth, farottone, and RyanHYK bring you “All Through the Night”, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, and “Time After Time”, respectively. (Your homework for this week is to get at least one bar full of bearded men singing along to “Time After Time”). farottone has also authored “True Colors”, the biggest hit from Lauper’s second album of the same name. Also, wow, Ms. Lauper is 60 and put out a new album in 2010! Hardcore.

On the other side of the female vocalists section — like, way, way on the other side — we’ve got a three-pack from Louisiana metal and *-core band iwrestledabearonce (or possibly Iwrestledabearonce? They got the plural possessive right on “dogs'”, so I’ll give them a pass either way). The three songs, all authored by Gigakoops, showcase several distinct sounds from the band, anywhere from Abnormality (remember “Visions”?) to Nightwish. If you want a challenge on pretty much any instrument, or simply wish you were back at Warped Tour, give this pack a try. (And if you want more, download “You Ain’t No Family” and “Tastes Like Kevin Bacon” from RBN!)

Is Cyndi Lauper not the ’80s pop artist we should have picked? Is iwrestledabear once not the…um…iwrestledabearonce-ish band we should have authored? Author your own favorite songs! Check out our authoring support forum for some resources to get you started.

See you next Friday!

  1. “all through the night” around 1:40 in the vid, those chords should be G#3/C4/D#4 throughout, with the very last sustained chord in that phrase F3/G#3/C#4

    🙂

  2. Yay! Cyndi Lauper. Thx team. I’m interested in the iwrestledabearonce songs. Just to see exactly how impossible they are.

    • Ulrich Firelord will probably kick your ass if you’re on drums or guitar. The whole pack is fairly challenging on drums, though Ulrich Firelord takes the cake for most insane chart.

  3. Fun set!

Where do we find the “Fixes and Upgrades” track files? Go back to the post they were originally released on?

      • Read the blog? I ain’t got time for that! 😉
You may want to just repeat that line near the track listing, though, for folks like me who generally skim the text.

        • Skim the text and miss the links at your own peril, we certainly won’t make it easier on you to ignore the witty copy pksage prepares for you each Friday. 🙂
